Your journey to Lagundo near Merano

Flying in? Bolzano Airport is the closest airport to Hotel am Sonneck and the most convenient option for international guests. There are direct flights from London Gatwick to Bolzano, as well as seasonal connections from several European cities. From Bolzano Airport, it is around 35 minutes by car to the Sonneck.

We will be happy to collect you from Bolzano Airport and take you back for your departure. Just let us know in advance.

If you are travelling from further afield, including the USA or Canada, the larger international airports of Milan, Venice, Verona and Munich are good alternatives. From there, you can continue to South Tyrol by rental car, train or airport transfer.

Arriving by car gives you plenty of flexibility during your stay.

If you are travelling from the south – for example from Verona, Venice, Milan or another part of Italy – follow the A22 motorway towards Bolzano and take the Bolzano Sud exit. From there, follow the MeBo expressway towards Merano and leave at Merano Nord – Lagundo. Continue towards Lagundo and Plars di Sopra.

If you are travelling from the north – for example from Innsbruck or Munich – follow the motorway via the Brenner Pass towards Bolzano. Continue to the Bolzano Sud exit and then take the MeBo expressway towards Merano.

Free outdoor parking is available directly at Hotel am Sonneck. Garage parking and an EV charging station are also available.

Travelling by train is a relaxed and scenic way to reach us.

International rail connections take you via Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass to Bolzano. From Bolzano, regional trains continue to Merano, with regular connections throughout the day.

If you are arriving via Verona, trains run from Verona Porta Nuova to Bolzano, where you can change for Merano.

We will be happy to collect you from the railway station in Merano or Bolzano by prior arrangement.

Prefer not to rent a car? No problem. Transfer services connect South Tyrol with several major airports, including Verona, Bergamo, Milan, Innsbruck and Munich. Depending on your arrival airport, you can travel onwards to Merano by shuttle, train or private transfer.

Once you arrive at the Sonneck, getting around without a car is easy. Public transport connects Lagundo with Merano and destinations throughout South Tyrol.

For guests travelling from the UK, the direct London Gatwick–Bolzano flight is the easiest way to get close to the Sonneck. From Bolzano Airport, you can reach us in around 35 minutes by car or arrange a transfer with us in advance.

British citizens travelling to Italy need a valid passport. Please check the current entry requirements before travelling.

If you are travelling from North America, we recommend flying into one of the major international airports in Milan, Venice or Munich, depending on the best connection from your departure city. From there, continue to South Tyrol by rental car, train or transfer.

If you are planning a longer trip through northern Italy or the Alps, Hotel am Sonneck is also easy to include in an itinerary combining destinations such as Milan, Lake Garda, Verona, Venice or the Dolomites.
